The Shakers’ talent for designing great furniture extended to timepieces. In this class, students will use traditional hand tool techniques to build a great looking wall-mounted clock. Students will fine tune their skills in making wedged through tenons, frame and panel door construction with mitered sticking, butt hinges and glass installation. During class students will use plow plane, rabbet plane, dado plane, molding planes, backsaws, chisels and other traditional tools. Each clock will be personalized with a clock face bearing the maker’s name. Tempus fugit and this clock soars.
